Benefits for Convenient Care Clinics

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that the Active and Retiree Plans now provide benefits for Convenient Care Clinics. Convenient Care Clinics are health care clinics located in retail stores, supermarkets, and pharmacies that treat uncomplicated minor illnesses and provide preventive health care services. Examples of these clinics are Minute Clinic at CVS and Take Care Clinic at Walgreens. Benefit coverage for visits to these clinics started on June 1, 2010.    

Most clinics treat adults and children over the age of 18 months for common illnesses, such as:

These clinics also provide preventive care, including health screenings, vaccinations, and physical exams. They may serve as collection points for samples of blood, urine, and feces for lab tests, which are then sent to external labs.
